HP 250 G7 Review: A Detailed Look at This Budget Office Windows Laptop

This series of business / office laptops is affordable and comes with features such as Intel Core (Whiskey Lake) processors, textured finish that gives the laptops with a sturdy look, long battery life, and more. Some models even come with a DVD drive. The starting weight with the HP 250 G7 is 3.91-lbs and it measures 14.8-in x 9.68-in x 0.89-in (W x D x H). It’s an ENERGY STAR Certified laptop with an HP Smart 45-W external AC adapter.

The keyboard has a tidy layout and there is even a full-sized number pad, which is very useful. The keys are easy to type on and offer a quiet typing experience. As for the trackpad, it has a classic design with two dedicated mouse buttons. The trackpad is wide and spacious enough for performing multi-finger gestures.

The G7 is programmed to be a budget office laptop. It can handle most relevant tasks, much in part due to its Intel Core i5 processor. For communication, video conferencing, there is an HP TrueVision HD camera as well as dual stereo speakers. External I/O ports include 1 headphone / microphone combo, 1 AC power, 2 USB 3.1 (Gen 1) ports, 1 HDMI, 1 USB 2.0 port, RJ-45, and AC power. For expansion slots, the HP 250 G7 comes with a multi-format digital media reader that supports SD / SDXC / SDHC.

There is TPM 2.0 technology and a security lock slot for security management. The Intel Core i5 processor has a 1.6-GHz base frequency and up to 3.9-GHz with turbo boost. It’s a quad-core processor with 6MB cache. There are basic integrated Intel graphics (UHD – 620) with this business laptop. The 4GB memory is sufficient for most office tasks (1 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 SDRAM.

For the display, users can expect a 15.6-inch diagonal HD SVA WLED-backlit display with anti-glare technology and 1366 x 768 resolution that delivers 220-nits. The OS is Windows 10 Pro.

While nothing too sophisticated, the HP 250 G7 does perform very well for its low price. It does have a fairly large SATA hard drive, with a 500GB capacity (7200-RPM). On top of that, there are always cloud options. The HP Long Life 3-cell battery (41-Wh Li-Ion) offers a long battery life of up to 12 hours and 45 minutes. A version of this notebook with an Intel Core i3 dual-core processor is also available if you don’t need the i5 quad-core and want to save a bit of money.
